Even people who do<br \/>\nnot feel anxious about dental treatment choose to have<br \/>\nsedation for uncomfortable procedures such as<br \/>\nextractions (removing a tooth).<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the risks?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Intravenous sedation can slow down your breathing. We<br \/>\novercome this by monitoring you closely and giving you<br \/>\noxygen (through a mask) if needed.<br \/>\nAnother possible complication is bruising to your hand<br \/>\nor arm after the injection but this should only last a few<br \/>\ndays.
